Thirty destinations later, we lost our hearts to Puerto Escondido, an under-the-radar but beloved surf town in Oaxaca, Mexico. What locals knew and we were delighted to learn was this part of Oaxaca enjoys an ideal, year-round climate with safe weather patterns. Warm-to-the-touch Pacific Ocean temperatures. A laidback, friendly and artful culture. And of course, it’s the cradle of some of Mexico’s most venerated culinary traditions. The time was right.
