Vuka d.d. is a privately held joint-stock company in Osijek, Croatia, that specializes in several roles in the water industry and these are: - Preventive flood control - Hydro-construction - Water Supply and Sewerage systems - Engineering - Demolition of buildings - Earthwork - Protection against the harmful effects of water Vuka d.d. (previously "Vuka regulation association" or "Slavonian Earth culture Association") was founded by J.J. Strossmayer in 1876. and in that time it severed only a small purpose in mostly protection against the harmful effects of water (such as flooding) due to the nature of the whole eastern part of Croatia (Slavonija). At that time, most of the regions were flooded regularly and only a handful of people intervened, where throughout the time the first association was created and for the first time flood control and drainage has been established. This lead to bigger agricultural development since the main risk of flooding has been eliminated, so the local economy started seeing it's better days. There were some temporary drawbacks during the both world wars and a bigger one during the civil war in 1991. One of the same first drainage canals that are functioning today stretch out over 4000km, and the first water pumping station in Dvor which has the capacity of 20,000 liters/sec. Vuka d.d. is a proud carrier of the ISO9001 and ISO14001 standardization process and has been using it for over 10 years.
