Wetland Environmental Learning Projects (WELP) is a registered 501(c) 3 organization, established in 2014. WELP has been formed to identify and evaluate wetland sites for improvements in the areas of wildlife habitat, water quality, endangered species protection and habitat development. Wetland development includes managing existing wetlands, monitoring various wetland restoration projects, all while creating opportunities for exploration and education for the public. WELP believes everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the biodiversity and beauty Alabama has to offer. WELP has two main programs, our Student Workshop Program and our Veterans Program. Participants are challenged to gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of our environment, and are encouraged to be good stewards of the environment through pollution awareness and hands on learning in outdoor classrooms.
