WheelPower is an online company focused on optimizing sports science and data analysis technology to deliver a high-quality training system to endurance athletes. Our idea came from the observation that several trainers and online training systems out there claim to use periodization to create a training especially tailored for each client, when in reality very few actually do it. The major problem with sports scientists and coaches trying to find the best model of sports periodization is the very distinct specific skills and physical qualities that each sport modality requires. Nevertheless, there are apparently a few common principles of physiological adaptation that may apply to great part of the sports and physical exercises aiming performance improvement: i.e. 1-variation to avoid plateau, 2-overload to progressively stress the body, and 3- proper rest in order to allow for supercompensation of the systems stressed. A repetitive training might lead to stagnation (plateau), an excessive overload or a lack of proper rest might lead to overtraining, whereas if the stimuli are not great enough body may not supercompensate. To overcome this problem, we use a reactive periodization, which comprises many types of periodization to create a unique type of training focused on endurance modalities that is adjusted according to the athletes improvement. We believe in a holistic approach where our clients not only improve athletically but are also taught about our training system to understand how their body is adapting to their training routine. Among several principles of sports training, WheelPower believes that the most important one is the biological uniqueness or individualization principle: every person is a unique human being with his or her exclusive peculiarities. This is the core of our service and is the motivation behind why we employ so much effort to create a scientific-based reactive periodization along with a truly personalized training.
