AlgaEnviro is the manufacturer of Diatomix in Australia. Diatomix enhances the growth of diatom algae in any waterbody. Getting rid of polluting nutrients like ammonia, nitrate and phosphate so that blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) blooms and water weeds like hyacinth, salvinia, azolla and duckweed are no longer a problem. Diatomix works in aquaculture, wastewater, stormwater, water reservoirs and natural water bodies like rivers and lakes. The polluting nutrients are the source of many water quality issues when unwanted algae or weed growth takes over. If the algae bloom crashes and dies then this may lead to a fish kill so this must be avoided as well. With Diatomix use, the naturally occurring diatom algae will use up the problem causing nutrients, and out-compete the other algae and weeds. But diatom numbers never reach bloom proportions because diatoms are at the bottom of the food chain so even though they are growing quickly, they are being eaten quickly so numbers stay lower than a 'bloom'​ that would cause a fish kill. The other important and beneficial outcome of Diatomix use is that the with diatoms growing well in a lower level but consistent way, the food chains above them become healthier and well fed, so the water will have more zooplankton, more insect and fish larvae and young animals, and over time these all keep feeding higher levels of the food chain so there are more fish, more birds, and the surrounding environment can heal itself with just small regular amounts of Diatomix that is rebalancing the polluted water. Please note there are several different products globally that are called Diatomix.
