Arts and Gardens are creative producers for heritage and contemporary gardens and landscapes. Connecting audiences with the green outdoors. Uniting artists, garden-makers, horticulturists, botanists and the public. Our work includes performances, exhibitions and participative programming from intimate to large-scale. We also develop networks between the arts, garden-making and management, and horticultural communities for new kinds of creative dialogue and opportunities. Arts and Gardens is a registered charity founded in September 2015, with the intention of making green spaces as memorable and significant as the experiences taking place within them, and to grow people’s relationships with gardens and horticulture, through an artistic programme which traverses age ranges, cultural and economic backgrounds. Some of our commissioning and creative partners so far include Waltham Forest London Borough of Culture 2019, Royal Horticultural Society, National Trust, Alexandra Palace, Arts Council England, Canary Wharf Arts + Events, PRS for Music Foundation, Drake Music, Liberty Festival, The Great Big Tree Climbing Company and Capability Brown 300.
Arts Bridging the Gap uplifts the voices, experiences, and self-expression of youth from under-resourced communities through healing arts programs. Through our work, youth develop interpersonal skills and growth mindsets that enable them to be their best selves in our community. Through four primary in/after school programs and an array of special projects, ABG utilizes the arts as a conduit for healing and empowerment amongst LA’s most under-resourced, systemically excluded communities. Arts+Wellness (A+W) — Built in response to compounding effects of COVID on at risk communities, this multidisciplinary program focuses on healing trauma and supporting high school students in developing their wellness and mindfulness through empathy building, trauma healing, restorative justice, creative expression, and civic leadership. Each program has an art focus such as urban farming, garden design, spoken word, visual art, and more! LA Street Art Initiative — Inspiring civic leadership and neighborhood pride, this program gathers artists, community members, and youth to co-design and paint public murals. Futures Rewired — Crafted for 12-18 year old female-identifying, non-binary, and gender expansive youth, this program exposes students to immersive art/tech STEAM, as interests and career pathways. Futures Rewired has been in residence at GALA: Girls Academic Leadership Academy since 2016. PenPal Art Share — Expanding worldviews and cultural understanding with art, this program connects LA youth with young people across the globe.
