WHO WE ARE African Platform for Migration and Inclusion in Health (APMIH) is Africa's first - and only - continental non-profit organisation operating at the nexus of health and marginalisation, with vulnerable migrants, refugees and internally displaced persons at the heart of our research and advocacy work. Founded in February 2018, we are an African-led organisation with a non-partisan ethos; we are politically and religiously neutral, and we always advocate in favour of health as a human right. WHY WE'RE HERE APMIH recognises a vital need to promote inclusion in health for those migrating within - and across - country borders in Africa. We also recognise the intersectional nature of migratiom and the need to also promote inclusion in health for particular groups of migrants, including those who identify as being LGBT+, as well as those with mental or physical disabilities. OUR MISSION As a network, APMIH seeks to collate and produce research data on access to health for various marginalised groups across Africa, and to use the evidence base to advocate in their favour. Our membership structure creates an important opportunity for a more coordinated response across Africa, and provides a much-needed space for advocates, researchers and policy-makers from across the continent to learn from each other’s experiences, share information, and amplify their voices.
