Australasian Dance Collective is one of Queensland's leading contemporary dance companies, based in Brisbane, Australia. Established in 1984 as Expressions Dance Company, we have created more than 170 works by 75 Australian and international choreographers. With an extraordinary ensemble of six dancers, the company has achieved significant recognition through national awards, including three Helpmann Awards and three Australian Dance Awards. We are defined by our commitment to excellence in both performance and sector development, contributing to the evolution and future of contemporary dance. Annually we create multiple new works, collaborate nationally and internationally and present performance seasons at major Australian venues including our presenting partner venue Queensland Performing Arts Centre. AIA can urtilize these resources providing dynamic work placement opportunities for our students who enrol in our Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care & Diploma of School Age Education and Care. Early childhood is a crucial stage of life in terms of a child's physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. Development of these abilities progress at an astounding rate and a very high proportion of learning takes place from birth to age six. It is a time when children particularly need high quality personal care and learning experiences. Education begins from the moment the child is brought home from hospital and continues on when the child starts to attend playgroups and kindergartens. The Learning capabilities of humans continue for the rest of the their lives but not at the intensity that is demonstrated in the preschool years.
