A AVM nasceu como um Projeto em 1996, com o objetivo de oferecer Pós-Graduação de qualidade, por baixo custo. Inicialmente a AVM oferecia apenas cursos na área Pedagógica, mas, a partir de 1998, o sucesso acadêmico da iniciativa, aliado ao reconhecimento de seu cunho social, incentivou o AVM ao oferecimento de cursos nas áreas Empresarial, Ambiental e Jurídica. Atuando na educação superior desde 1996, através da oferta de formação e capacitação de profissionais de diferentes áreas, a AVM já formou mais de 100.000 especialistas na modalidade de ensino presencial, mantendo uma média de 6.000 alunos matriculados por semestre em seus cursos de Pós-Graduação lato sensu. Com o lançamento, em 2000 dos cursos de Pós-Graduação por ensino a distância o AVM já formou mais de 12.000 especialistas através dessa modalidade que conta hoje com cerca de 5.000 alunos matriculados, oriundos de todas as regiões brasileiras (2/3 do território nacional), em atividade através de nossos Núcleos Regionais espalhados por todo país.
