API's new COVID-RAPID test for COVID-19 is an antibody test, which is different from the PCR tests you've been seeing in the news. Covid-Rapid works by looking for antibodies in your blood to the virus. So no uncomfortable deep nose or throat swab (PCR test) and more importantly, you know for sure that the sample collected is properly done, which isnt always true with the swabs. By placing the blood on the strip with the reagent, capillary action takes the water part of your blood, which contains the antibodies, down the strip to interact with pieces of the virus embedded in the paper. If you have antibodies to the virus in your blood, they will react with these pieces of the virus, changing the color of the paper. This will show a line indicating a positive result, just like a pregnancy test.
