LA.G.O.P. è una associazione di volontariato senza scopo di lucro nata il 7 Dicembre 1977 per opera e impegno di genitori di bambini affetti da tumori e leucemie in cura presso la Divisione di Oncologia Pediatrica del Policlinico Agostino Gemelli di Roma. Dal 1977 il suo intento è quello di offrire assistenza globale e quotidiana ai bambini malati e alle loro famiglie. Lattuale sede operativa è ubicata proprio allinterno della Divisione (XI piano, percorso blu, ala D), con lobiettivo di essere un punto di riferimento sempre presente per le famiglie che ne hanno necessità. Dal 1995 A.G.O.P. Onlus è iscritta nel Registro del Volontariato della Regione Lazio nella Sezione Servizi Sociali n. 112. Dal 2009 il logo A.G.O.P. è un marchio dimpresa registrato al Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico con decreto n. 0001376636. Dal 2010 lAssociazione accoglie e sostiene anche i bambini e le famiglie in cura presso il Reparto di Neurochirurgia Infantile dellOspedale. A tale scopo dispone di un punto di appoggio presso il reparto stesso (XI piano, percorso rosso, ala N). Nello stesso anno, in collaborazione con il Prof. Di Rocco - Neurochirurgia Infantile Policlinico A. Gemelli - e lOn. Silvia Costa Parlamento europeo, lA.G.O.P. ha organizzato il convegno Tumori cerebrali: centri di riferimento e rete territoriale per la migliore modalità di cura per sottolineare la necessità di una rete assistenziale a sostegno del piccolo paziente e dei suoi familiari.
