On October 26, 2010, professional female drummer April Samuels was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer called triple negative breast cancer (ER-, PR-, HER2-). Immediately, April was motivated to "do something". In November of 2010, combining her will to fight breast cancer with her passion for drumming, she came up with the slogan "Breast Cancer Can Stick It!". The logo was designed at the same time and the drummer pictured modeled after April (see right) That motto has now become a brand. "Breast Cancer Can Stick It!" can be seen on shirts, drumsticks, bass drum heads, and other swag across the country, working to raise awareness and funds for research, trials, and financial assistance for breast cancer, as well as for mammograms. In October 2011, the Breast Cancer Can Stick It! Team participated in their first breast cancer awareness walk. In 2012, in addition to participating in its second breast cancer awareness walk, further fundraising activities began in the form of Metal Shop drummer's "Crash Gordon's Breast Cancer Can Stick It! Fundraiser." In 2013, the decision was made to turn Breast Cancer Can Stick It! into a fully functioning nonprofit foundation. The Breast Cancer Can Stick It! Foundation's mission is to raise awareness and funds for a cure by orchestrating energetic, unique, music-minded events that ROCK to ultimately STICK IT to breast cancer. Since 2010, April's efforts have raised nearly $300,000. Breast Cancer Can Stick It! is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) foundation. Donations are tax deductible. Tax ID # 46-2824100.

MISSION Breast Cancer Emergency Fund responds quickly and compassionately to provide emergency financial assistance to low-income women and men in San Francisco and Silicon Valley who are in active treatment for breast cancer, in order to cover basic human needs, lessen financial burdens, and improve quality of life. Many people with breast cancer have no health insurance or are underinsured. Most will be unable to work during their treatment, adding a huge financial toll to an already difficult struggle. BCEF provides emergency financial assistance to help our clients continue vital medical treatments, avoid utility shut-off, prevent eviction, and maintain stable housing during a devastating illness. COMPANY OVERVIEW BCEF has provided over 3.5 million dollars in emergency financial assistance to clients battling breast cancer when they are too sick to work. 100% of all individual gifts directly benefit BCEF clients. BCEF was founded in 2001 by AIDS Emergency Fund (AEF). BCEF does not receive federal or public funding. We rely on the dedication of an extensive volunteer network and the generosity of many individuals, corporations and foundations. Our signature fundraising event, This Old Bag: The Power of the Purse raises one-quarter of BCEF's annual budget.
