BREEAM® (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) es el método de evaluación y certificación de la sostenibilidad en la edificación técnicamente más avanzado y pionero en el mundo: atesora 591.000 certificados en 90 países desde 1990. En España, la adaptación de la metodología a nuestro idioma, normativa y práctica constructiva se inició en el año 2010 y fue consensuado con la participación de más de 130 profesionales de las diferentes partes que intervienen en el proceso constructivo. Favorece una construcción más sostenible que se traduce en una mayor rentabilidad para quien construye, opera y/o mantiene el edificio; la reducción de su impacto en el medio ambiente; y un mayor confort y salud para quien vive, trabaja o utiliza el edificio. Para ello, evalúa impactos en 10 categorías (Gestión, Salud y Bienestar, Energía, Transporte, Agua, Materiales, Residuos, Uso ecológico del suelo, Contaminación, Innovación) y otorga una puntuación final tras aplicar un factor de ponderación ambiental que tiene en cuenta la importancia relativa de cada área de impacto. BREED is a not for profit community organisation that recently obtained its charity status due to its work within Youth and Education sector. BREED was originally setup to support the Blacktown local economy and works with businesses and the community sector to develop opportunities for new and expanding businesses, youth, unemployed and people with disabilities. BREED also operates a business incubator that provides low cost office accommodation and support to new and developing businesses. The BREED Business Centre (BBC) has assisted over 150 local businesses; these businesses have grown to employ approximately 360 people and have contributed $5.8 million to the local economy with 96 per cent of tenants still in business after starting out at the BBC. Our goal is to assist new and expanding businesses to support or grow their business venture in a supportive and friendly environment BREED has been operating in Western Sydney for the past 24 years, delivering numerous funded programs targeting youth, business and community. Most recently BREED has been delivering programs targeting young people with disabilities in particular, young people on the Autism Spectrum. BREED is committed to providing experiences that strengthen a person’s employment opportunities. BREED’s vision is to enhance, influence and transform skills and attitudes and to act as the primary conduit between people and business.
