Brighton Digital Festival is a platform for supporting and encouraging people across the city to experience and explore digital technology and culture. The annual month-long festival both celebrates Brighton’s creativity, its innovative digital economy and top-level arts scene whilst providing space for meaningful critique about the role of digital technology in reshaping life and culture. From small-scale meet ups to big name conferences, digital artists’ experimental ideas to fully mounted exhibitions, BDF promises something for everybody and because many events are free, plenty of opportunities to discover something new. It brings together diverse sections of Brighton’s population in new settings, as creators, as audiences and as participants, to help shape the future of the region. We're a grassroots Festival, with the majority of events organised by members of Brighton’s digital and arts communities. Since 2015 we have become a Community Interest Company (CIC), moving away from being tied to any single organisation and becoming independent. We welcome the continued support of Arts Council England and Brighton & Hove City Council.

Brighton Digital Women is a community for people in Brighton, Hove and Sussex who are from all kinds of digital backgrounds, from professionals with years of experience, to kids just starting to code for people working in digital and related careers. We work toward inspiring and empowering more people to launch and develop successful careers in digital and tech, with a view to closing the gender gap in digital leadership roles. We get together each month to chat about our challenges, experiments and experiences within our roles – and to collaborate on ideas to help progress our careers. We hear, on average, 3 talks each month based around a key theme. We cover anything from wellbeing for digital marketers to leadership, career development and how to create diverse and equal workplaces. Our core aim is to raise the profile of women in our industry within Brighton, close the gender pay and skills gap and contribute to a fairer, more equal industry. We want to create: 1) A first port of call for mentorship, sharing experiences and opportunities to progress our careers. 2) A collaborative network to turn to for guidance, inspiration and support. 3) Opportunities for women to get exposure and build authority in the local digital community. 4) The chance to explore the spectrum of career opportunities in digital – from technical, to creative, to commercial. 5) More role models for the next generation of digital women. 6) Opportunities for local businesses to show their support for closing the digital gender gap
