A BHIP é a nova Concessionária de Iluminação Pública do município de Belo Horizonte, que garantirá a manutenção e a modernização de todo o parque de iluminação que hoje é representado por de aproximadamente 182 mil pontos de luz. Esta concessão, estabelecida por meio de PPP (Parceria Público-Privada) se apresenta como referência de pioneirismo deste próprio tipo parceria, considerando o segmento de iluminação pública, de magnitude mundial (em quantidade de pontos sob gestão da concessionária) e de parâmetros técnicos e melhoria da iluminação a serem oferecidos para a população. A Manutenção constitui-se em sustentar um diferenciado e eficiente plano de atuação preventiva e atendimento corretivo para garantir o pleno funcionamento de todo o parque de iluminação ao longo de toda a concessão. A Modernização do parque consiste na substituição de todo o sistema atual de iluminação por tecnologia de ponta, de esfera global, que ofereça a substancial elevação dos parâmetros luminotécnicos atuais para o mais rigoroso enquadramento à Normas de Iluminação Pública vigentes, e a representativa eficientização energética. Este aporte de novas tecnologias contempla ainda a implantação do sistema de Telegestão da iluminação das principais vias, proporcionando o controle informatizado e remoto destes pontos, o que possibilita, além da medição e acompanhamento de diversas grandezas elétricas, a imediata identificação de eventuais falhas e assim a oportunidade de intervenção imediata, seja preventiva ou corretiva. A BHIP tem ainda a missão de revitalizar a iluminação de 13 pontos notórios da cidade, denominados pontos de Iluminação de Destaque, brindando mais harmonia e evidência a este acervo relevante do município. O resultado de tudo isso, sem dúvida será a cidade mais iluminada, a melhoria da segurança pública e qualidade de vida em geral da população.
