Children First GmbH

education management

Children First was established in 2006 to provide high quality education and care for international and multi-lingual families. Our aim is to ensure that we put children first in everything we do.    As the school has grown, we have retained our core commitment to providing education and support on a personal level. We feel privileged to be the first place outside the home where children make friends and learn to read, write and work in groups. Our multi-age school is structured like a big family, in which all children are encouraged to enhance their own personality, while learning to interact with others. The expertise we offer at Children First ensures every child’s individual potential can be developed. Our children continue their education in both the local Swiss and international primary systems. The daycare service guarantees working parents can give their children a head start in life.   The focus on the early years of learning enables children to acquire basic life skills, as well as a solid academic foundation. Our internationally-recognised Montessori and English curricula support our unique approach. We use practical teaching methods that promote creativity, problem solving, critical thinking, care of the environment and for each other. Strong relationships with the children are complemented by our work in partnership with parents. Our priorities are shared, so everyone involved understands what makes these formative years so special.

children of imprisoned parents international

individual & family services

Vision: For no human being to bear the psychological burden caused by growing up with parents who were imprisoned Mission: We promote, deliver, and sustain evidenced-based prevention and support programs around the world for children who have experienced psychological or physical trauma from growing up in a home with incarcerated parents. Our programs nurture and support children of imprisoned parents, as well as educating and providing resources for their parents and members of the judicial and social services community. Children carry burdens due to different types of issues. COIPI is working on burdens caused by parental absence. We focus on absence because of incarceration, no matter where, and no matter for what reason. But, scientifically there are more similarities than differences in what children around the world experience due to parental absences. COIPI looks at both sides — similarities and differences. We believe that the same stories can be shared to be used by other people. We also believe that new research on the impact of parental absences on children can improve our knowledge. COIPI was born in August 2014. But the main idea behind the organization was formed years earlier. About 10 years ago, when new organizations for children were created in Iran, the first sprout of COIPI was seen. Since that time, the founders of COIPI were thinking about different ways to protect children, as much as possible, from consequences of parental absence. Now, COIPI is here to help build a world where no children should have to carry the burden of parental absence alone or forever. There are many reasons for Parental Absence. We believe that nobody can prevent or control all of these issues. Some of them are a natural part of life, some are caused by politics and some are caused by unfortunate choices made by parents or others in children’s lives. But, no matter the reason, we can do something to control the effect on children. First, we should understand the negative effects of Parental Absence on children. COIPI collects, classifies, translates – if necessary- and publishes the relevant research and if needed does its own research to educate society how to deal with children who experience absent of their parents. Second, we can do what we can to minimize the negative effects of Parental Absence. COIPI has 5 departments to find the best solutions to support children of incarceration: Education programs, financial support, legal remedies, visiting programs, and psychological and physical support. Finally, we can help children adjust to those negative effects that are unavoidable. Specialists in “education programs” and “psychological and physical support” departments can support children and lead them to the healthier life. COIPI is a Non Profit Organization. All services of COIPI are free. All money donated to COIPI is used to support its services and development. COIPI accepts donations in cash and services from individuals and organizations. COIPI is an independent organization that believes that human rights include children’s rights. Join our cause!
