As a Christian community, CCIW exists only because of what Christ, in his life, death and resurrection, has done for us. It is on this conviction that we stand, and out of which our vision and values flow. CCIW has a long and varied history: St John's Ashfield started in 1840 as the first church between Sydney and Parramatta. St Alban's Five Dock started in 1859 and St Oswald's Haberfield in the early 1900s. But we are also new, having existed as CCIW only since 2008. Like our area, CCIW is a varied and diverse community. We love to welcome visitors and newcomers all the time.

Since 1821, Christ Church has been a sacred place in the heart of North Carolina’s capital city. We are the oldest Episcopal congregation in the Raleigh area, the “mother” parish of several other Episcopal churches in Wake County, and one of the three largest parishes in the Diocese of North Carolina. We have a proud legacy of preparing leaders for the Church, the Raleigh community, our diocese and the wider world. That tradition continues to flourish as Christ Church approaches its bicentennial this year, 2021. Christ Church has approximately 3,100 members.
