Cirkus invigdes den 25 maj 1892 för att inhysa dåtidens stora cirkussällskap. Med åren har Cirkus blivit ett tillhåll för konserter, kongresser, TV-inspelningar och framförallt teater, musikaler och shower. Cirkus har huserat alltifrån världsstjärnor som Nick Cave, Simon & Garfunkel och Iggy Pop till succéshower som Chess och Mamma Mia. Idag är Cirkus norra Europas största privatteater - en komplett anläggning med tre scener. Här ryms Cirkus stora scen i historisk miljö, med plats för 1 644 sittande gäster samt hypermoderna nya Lilla Cirkus som tar upp till 800 personer i biosittning. Cirkus Arena & Restaurang har mingelutrymmen för flera hundra gäster och och en fantastisk festvåning med plats för drygt 100 personer.

Cirkus Cirkör was started in 1995 and is the most prominent circus company in the Nordics today. Our umbrella covers performances on tour in Sweden and the world, courses and educational programs for all ages, an upper secondary school for circus, business events and many, many collaboration projects. Cirkus Cirkör is an idea of how to use the arts to influence, develop and change the world. With curiosity, humour and courage, we explore the diversity and limits of the circus arts. Cirkus Cirkör is a platform where different artistic practices flourish and surprise. We collaborate with many and use the circus as a method to lift and inspire humans.
