Located in southwestern Oakland County, Michigan, the City of Wixom has an outstanding opportunity for an individual to become its next City Manager and provide leadership for this premier Michigan Community. The City of Wixom, a community of 9.3 square-miles with approximately 17,150 residents, is a full-service community with a general fund budget of $12 million and approximately 60 full-time-equivalents in various occupational areas that include police, fire, public works, parks and recreation, and administrative services such as Finance, City Clerk, Economic Development, and Parks & Recreation. The City is financially stable and has a bond rating of Aa2 and a strong fund balance as well as budget stabilization funds. Recognized by the University of Michigan-Dearborn’s Center for Innovation during seven of the past eight years as a Five-Star Entrepreneurial City, the City offers an exceptional quality of life and atmosphere for families and businesses. City of Wolverhampton College is one of the largest college’s in the region, working with more than 700 employers each year, including a number of multi nationals. The college offers a range of programmes, including apprenticeships, workplace learning and commercially funded projects, as well as employability schemes for the unemployed. It is the UK’s leading training provider in plastics and the largest provider of 16-18 apprenticeships in the area. The college currently works with a number of prestigious companies, including the BBC to train its 46 new local radio journalists, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC to train office staff and with MOOG to train engineers – all of which were won through competitive tendering processes in direct response to training needs directly identified by the employers concerned. In its latest Ofsted report, City of Wolverhampton College was graded as good, with inspectors applauding the college’s outstanding response to local and regional economic and community needs, noting how well staff worked with employers to develop bespoke training and provide a better skilled workforce across the region.
