We’re Coastguard Tautiaki Moana, Aotearoa New Zealand’s primary maritime search and rescue organisation, and we’re proudly a grassroots Kiwi charity. Our vision is to help all New Zealanders get the best out of their time on the water, safely and with confidence. When we’re not helping people on the water, we’re sharing all we know because we know knowledge saves lives. Each year our 2,000 plus amazing volunteers readily exchange the comfort of home or a paid job to selflessly give their time to help bring Kiwis home safely - from Houhora to Bluff, across the oceans, major rivers and lakes of our beautiful country. It takes a crew to save a life. Our staff are just as passionate about our mission and the role they play supporting our lifesaving mahi. Coastguard's purpose is very clear - to save lives at sea. Our vision is to have everybody safe on the water. We will save lives through rescue, education, communication and example. Coastguard maintains an infrastructure right around the coast of New Zealand to ensure we are there when the New Zealand public need us. In the Northern Region we cover from Thames, across to Kawhia and up both coasts to the Far North. We have strategically located rescue vessels, comprehensive marine VHF coverage and units that all go in to making up this infrastructure. Coastguard is a volunteer run, member supported, community funded and sponsored not-for-profit organisation. However, we could not run as efficiently as we do without our staff. Our regional headquarters in Mechanics Bay, Auckland is home to our Operation Centre made up of our Operations team who ensure the efficiency of this 24 hour facility. Our 25 units are supported and monitored by two Unit Support and Operations Managers who are part of our Regional Support and Executive team including marketing and funding, administration and our education office who deliver theoretical and practical courses to the public as well as our search and rescue training for volunteers.

We provide marine and land logistics service support to both the upstream and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry.
