The College of Registered Nurses of Brisith Columbia (CRNBC) is the regulatory body for the almost 40,000 registered nurses and nurse practitioners in B.C. Our purpose is to protect the public by effectively regulating registered nurses and nurse practitioners. Our mandate is to ensure individuals seeking entry to practice and maintaining registration are competent and ethical. The College does this by setting standards, supporting registered nurses to meet standards, and acting if standards are not met

We establish and maintain a registration process that ensures those who practice as registered nurses or graduate nurses are qualified and competent. We set and maintain nursing practice standards that registered nurses must meet every day to ensure safe, competent and ethical registered nursing care. We approve nursing education programs to ensure students get the education they need to perform the competencies of a registered nurse. We receive and investigate complaints about the nursing practice and conduct of registered nurses and determine appropriate remedial or disciplinary actions as required. The College has been the professional regulatory body for registered nurses in Manitoba since 1913. The Registered Nurses Act and Regulations set out our responsibilities.
