La Comédie de Béthune est dirigée par Cédric Gourmelon depuis le 1er juillet 2021. Son projet s’attache à défendre les valeurs fondatrices de la décentralisation théâtrale, à l’origine de la création des centres dramatiques nationaux, qui prennent tout leur sens sur le vaste territoire de la communauté d’agglomération de Béthune-Bruay Artois Lys Romane. Il souhaite contribuer à faire de la Comédie de Béthune un lieu de référence pour la création théâtrale en France. En mettant en avant à la fois des grands textes du répertoire contemporain et classique et en proposant des formes itinérantes de tous formats. Avec la volonté d’une grande exigence artistique à toute les échelles du projet, dont le « théâtre» sera au cœur: la troupe, les metteurs.euses en scène, l’art de l’acteur, le récit partagé, l’épopée… Il souhaite développer un pôle production ambitieux qui accompagnera notamment ses créations et celles des artistes associés, Lisa Guez, Tommy Milliot, Louise Vignaud, Thomas Piasecki, et des artistes compagnons, Tiphaine Raffier, Baptiste Amann et Jean-François Sivadier. Il souhaite également faire de La Comédie de Béthune un lieu de partage et de transmission ouvert, chaleureux. Avec des ateliers, des stages, gratuits, pour tous. Ce Centre dramatique national a la particularité de s’inscrire sur un territoire où la jeunesse représente une part importante de la population. Engagé pour l’égalité des chances il développera un incubateur destiné à l’accompagnement de compagnies émergentes et à leur implantation sur le territoire.
