The Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico serves as a community resource, connects donors to needs, and supports charitable organizations in their work. Your Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM) serves as a vehicle for people of all means to make a lasting impact on quality of life in our region now and in the future. Our organization is supported by a broad base of individuals, families, corporations, and institutions connected by the desire to improve southern New Mexico. We manage over 200 endowments, including 40 non-profit organizations in southern New Mexico, and are home to over 35 scholarships and three annual grant cycles. As a center for charitable giving we support the arts, feed the hungry, expand literacy, improve health, and support countless other meaningful causes in the seven counties we serve, which include: Doña Ana, Hidalgo, Otero, Sierra, Grant, Lincoln and Luna.

We are the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge. Our mission is to enrich the quality of life in our community by responding to needs and inspiring philanthropy. We are a nonprofit organization created by and for a community of people. We are supported by local donors and governed by a board of private citizens who work toward the greater good of the community. The Community Foundation distributes grants, scholarships, and awards to worthy organizations and individuals each year. The funds for which come from a wide variety of donors who establish permanent charitable funds, or contribute to existing funds, to ensure that the charitable work that matters most to them will be supported today and forever. The Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge serves the independent cities of Staunton and Waynesboro and the counties of Augusta, Nelson, and Highland.

The Community Foundation is a public charity established in September 1996 by a steering committee of civic leaders to meet a variety of social, educational, cultural and other charitable needs in the Danville, Pittsylvania County and Caswell County area, as well as Southern Virginia and Northern North Carolina. The Community Foundation returns to the community the earnings from endowment funds created by area donors through grants to non-profit organizations throughout the region and scholarships to local graduates. The Community Foundation is fully tax-exempt as an organization described in Sections 501(c)(3) and 170(b)(A)(vi) of the Internal Revenue Code.

We provide resources for community members and organizations to make Santa Cruz County a place for all to thrive, now and in the future. We connect with donors, professional advisors and nonprofit leaders to provide them with the resources and tools they need. In 2024, the Foundation awarded $23 million in grants to local nonprofits. In 2010, we opened the Jack & Peggy Baskin Center for Philanthropy in Aptos, which received Gold Level LEED certification for the U.S. Green Building Council.

CF does take a personal approach when evaluating your business plan and loan application. Community Futures believes in partnerships. We leverage your assets and your banks investment in you. Our goal is to help you and your financial institution when you dont quite fit their criteria. The only thing we have in common with a bank or credit union is that we lend capital to small business and provide business advice. Community Futures supports and programs differ from office to office however we all have one thing in common; we support small and medium business in rural BC communities. We provide financing alternatives to small and medium enterprises in BC for whom access to credit represents a challenge to starting or growing their business. Community Futures tailors its loan products so you can respond to your business needs, succeed and prosper. That way we both win! Community Futures Highwood (CFH) is a non-profit organization, funded by Western Economic Diversification, providing business planning support, business training opportunities and small business loans to rural entrepreneurs. CFH also assists in planning and implementing community-based economic development and diversification strategies in the region. The Community Futures Program is a federal government initiative, which was established in 1984 to assist rural communities in the development of strategies for dealing with a changing economic environment. The program is based on the philosophy that local decision-making and local development are the most effective means for communities to shape their future. We believe that providing small businesses with resources leads to job creation and economic growth. Over the past 31 years, B.C. has become a small business economy. Community Futures has played a leading role in that growth by providing financing and small business training. An evaluation of the Community Futures program during the period 2003 to 2008 was completed by the Federal Government using Business Information Numbers and Revenue Canada Data. The results showed that businesses assisted by Community Futures: •Increased employment by 18% compared with businesses not assisted at 10% •Increased revenue by 26% compared with 20% for unassisted businesses.
