County of Inyo

government administration

The County of Inyo is a political subdivision of the State of California. Its vision is to provide responsive decision making while supporting cultural and historical values, the natural environment and rural quality of life. Inyo County is a land of magnificent natural diversity. Mount Whitney is the highest peak in the lower 48 states. Death Valley is the lowest point in the U.S., and the Great Basin bristlecone pines are the oldest life forms in the world. Beyond this, experts agree that Inyo County has excellent trout fishing, hiking in the Sierra, and magnificent vistas. In addition Inyo County offers the best alpine climbing, spring backcountry skiing, hang gliding, horsepacking and mountain biking in the world! The County offers a full spectrum of adventure and involvement from the absolute stillness and peace of the desert, through the meadows blanketed with wildflowers, over the rushing mountain streams of the forest, to the wind whipped granite peaks. There is nowhere one can turn without seeing Natures striking beauty. One can experience this unforgettable grandeur from the comfort of one's car, on foot or on horseback. The granite peaks of the High Sierra have been sculpted by glaciers, wind and weather into some of Natures most glorious works of art. The John Muir Wilderness has remained virtually unchanged for thousands of years. Our county is dotted with historic towns providing professional services and the equipment one will need for ones excursions, whether it’s backpacking, fishing, horsepacking, skiing, climbing, biking, photography, or just sightseeing.

county of lampasas, tx

government administration

The County of Lampasas is located in central Texas. The Elections Department was established in 2007 and administers elections for the cities, school districts, political parties' primary/runoff, general elections, liquor options and other special elections. This Department maintains and updates voter registration database through the Secretary of State TEAM system. Prior to 2007 the County Clerk administered elections and the Tax Assessor/Collector conducted voter registration activities. Lampasas County has 714 square miles near the center of Texas. The county's center point is at 31°15' north latitude and 98°14' west longitude, seventy-five miles northwest of Austin. On February 1, 1856, in response to a petition signed by 135 Lampasas County citizens, the Sixth Texas Legislature formed Lampasas County, named after the Lampasas River, from parts of Travis, Bell, and Coryell counties. Burleson, renamed Lampasas, was made the county seat, and the new county was organized on March 10, 1856. Two years later the northeastern corner of Lampasas County became part of Hamilton County. In 1873 an act of the legislature extended the southern boundary of Lampasas County thirty miles into Burnet County, but the next year the boundary was returned to its previous position. In 1887 the new Mills County received northern and northwestern sections of Lampasas County. Subsequently, the county boundaries remained unchanged.

County of Lennox and Addington

government administration

The County of Lennox and Addington is located in the midst of beautiful Eastern Ontario, its borders stretching from the shores of Lake Ontario to Canadian Shield land north of Denbigh. The southern portion of the County is only 30 minutes from larger urban centres of Belleville and Kingston. Only 2 hours from Toronto and Ottawa and only 3 hours to Montreal, L&A has a large rural base with many small communities giving the County a rich local flavour. The County covers a sprawling area of 2,777 square kilometres, stretching from Lake Ontario northward over 130 kilometres to Renfrew County. Our municipalities include the Township of Addington Highlands, the Town of Greater Napanee, Loyalist Township and the Township of Stone Mills. The northern half of the County forms part of the Canadian Shield and as such is rugged, rocky, covered with a maze of lakes and forests, mostly unsuited for agriculture and quite attractive as a recreational area. The southern half of the County is essentially rural, with the exception of urban Napanee and the suburban community of Amherstview within Loyalist Township. The rural area is dotted with a number of villages and hamlets which function as commercial and tourism centres for the surrounding area. Settled at first by United Empire Loyalists and later by American and European pioneers, the County is alive with reminders of a rich past: the family names of the earliest pioneers endure, and hundreds of grand Victorian homes and farmsteads still stand as symbols of an era of hard work and bustling growth, their survival and vitality a testament to the vision of the founders. The County’s strategic location, in close proximity to one-third of North America’s population, its attractive mix of farmland, its open spaces, forests, lakes and its stable, thriving communities provide a friendly environment for significant economic growth in the 21st Century.
