Connections Early Years Family Centre is a progressive, family-centred organization providing integrated support, learning and early identification / intervention services to advance the healthy development of families and their children (0-6 years) in Windsor-Essex County. Formerly St. Marys Family Learning Centre, Connections has been serving the Windsor-Essex community since 1974. In an Early Years Study report by Margaret McCain and J. Fraser Mustard analyzing community-supported initiatives, our Centre was deemed to be "...a strong early child development and parenting centre." At Connections, we offer five main components: 1. EarlyON Centre Offers Drop In and Play programs, parenting courses and groups with child care, postnatal programs, a leadership development program, emergent literacy and numeracy programs, committees, volunteer programs and student placement. 2. Essex Preschool Speech and Language (Talk 2 Me) Talk 2 Me provides resources and programs for children with speech and language concerns from birth until they attend kindergarten. We work with parents and caregivers to help every child be the best communicator they can be. 3. Infant Hearing Program Windsor Essex & Chatham Kent This includes universal newborn hearing screening, high risk monitoring and services for children identified with a permanent hearing loss. 4. Blind-Low Vision Early Intervention Program Windsor Essex & Chatham Kent The BLV Program provides family support, intervention services and consultation services. 5. We provide services through our Care Centers for crisis and substance abuse, and best in-practice consulting through our professional services. Connections in Mind Outreach (CiMO) is a UK based CIC with a mission to create and deliver effective evidence-based executive function skill development programmes. We work with schools, youth centres and charities to deliver executive function interventions to improve educational and well-being outcomes. We have a particular focus on working with young people who are are from diverse backgrounds, many of which are neurodiverse. CiMO has been set up to make the support that we offer to those with executive function weakness available to all. Executive functions are a fundamental aspect of brain development which have a profound impact our learning and wellbeing. Executive function skills affect our ability to plan, organise and execute tasks efficiently. They are also involved in how we manage our emotions, self regulation, control and self awareness. These are the skills we need to flourish in life, consequently poor executive functioning can negatively impact on academic achievement, emotional wellbeing, and job outcomes. Every child and adult has a unique spectrum of executive functioning strength and weakness. In addition to this normal variation, and the slow trajectory associated with maturity, students with ADHD, ADD, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Autism, Aspergers and behavioural difficulties, for example, often experience executive function challenges.

Committed. Connected. Our Story: Connections was founded in 1981 to provide shelter for at-risk and homeless youth with nowhere else to turn. What started as a children’s shelter has since expanded to include a transitional living home, counseling initiatives, and prevention programming.  Agency services are aimed at altering the pattern of abuse that exists across generations, giving families the tools needed to grow together, and decreasing risk factors that lead to homelessness. Connections provides a safe home to displaced youth while simultaneously working with families to decrease the number of children being displaced. The goal is not simply to help the victims; but to address what made them victims in the first place. This comprehensive approach to service is evident in the agency’s mission which is “strengthening communities, one youth and one family at a time.”

Facilitate senior leadership teams to agree organisational strategy and multi-horizon views to deliver the strategic priorities. Design and implement digital and video learning modules to support new technology delivery. Design and facilitate project management training courses. Facilitate business teams to develop a business continuity plan, including agreeing business-wide priorities. Lead an operations department to develop the business systems that ensures the growing pains of the organisation are effectively managed.
