Crime Stoppers is a not-for-profit, volunteer led program which enables the community and media help police to solve and prevent crime. It’s a simple, effective and secure way for people to provide information anonymously. ACT Region Crime Stoppers was introduced to the Canberra region in 1998. Today, calls to Crime Stoppers by the Australian public result in over 20 arrests per day. We help keep Australia safe. Across Australia, calls and online reports to Crime Stoppers have helped identify drug labs and dealers, catch wanted fugitives, solve arsons, thefts and robberies, and catch criminals wanted for violent robberies, assaults and murders. Police can’t solve every crime on their own. They rely on members of the community to report suspicious or unusual events. The smallest pieces of information can be helpful - it could be the missing piece of the crime solving puzzle. Not everyone is comfortable contacting or reporting information directly to the police - that’s where Crime Stoppers comes in. If you see or hear something suspicious or you witness criminal activity, or you hear someone planning a crime it’s easy to report to Crime Stoppers. It’s a 24/7 service and you can remain anonymous. Crime Stoppers works alongside the media and police to raise awareness of safety and security issues affecting our Australian way of life. We are aligned to corporations and individuals with a social responsibility for community justice. In 2017, the public made over 317,000 contacts to Crime Stoppers nationally – 9,018 in the ACT – with 7,907 arrests in Australia resulting from our program. We believe, with your support, we can empower the Australian community to report more, on topics relevant to more agencies, and in innovative ways – to disrupt crime even further. Your information can help solve crime and keep our community safe. If you see or hear something, please say something! You can remain anonymous. Phone: 1800 333 000 Online: crimestoppersact.com.au
