The Center for Advancement of Informal Science Education (CAISE) works in cooperation with the National Science Foundations (NSF) Advancing Informal Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Learning (AISL) Program to build and advance the informal STEM education field by providing infrastructure, resources and connectivity for educators, researchers, evaluators, and other interested stakeholders. Established in 2007, CAISE operates as a network of core staff at the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) in Washington, D.C. and co-principal investigators and other collaborators at academic institutions and informal STEM education (ISE) organizations across the U.S. CAISE seeks to characterize, highlight and connect quality, evidence-based informal STEM learning work supported by a diversity of federal, local and private funders by providing access to over 7,000 (and growing) resources that include project descriptions, research literature, evaluation reports and other documentation on the InformalScience.org website. CAISE also convenes inquiry groups, workshops and principal investigator meetings designed to facilitate discussion and identify the needs and opportunities for informal STEM learning practitioners working in media (TV, radio, film, social), science centers and museums, zoos and aquariums, parks, botanical gardens and nature centers, events and festivals, libraries, making and tinkering spaces, cyberlearning and gaming,and youth, community, and out-of-school time programs. As of September 2016, CAISE embarked on a new initiative to explore synergy with the fields of science communication and science public engagement. Center for Advancing Domestic Peace (founded in 1997 as West Side Domestic Abuse Project) works to end domestic violence at the source--those who choose to abuse. Domestic violence affects women and children, men and boys. It is estimated that one woman is battered every nine seconds; 37% of women visiting emergency rooms are there due to domestic battery; in Chicago, one domestic violence related call is made to the 911 call center per district per hour. CADP serves 500 people each year, offering intervention to end abusive behavior for people who abuse a domestic partner. Groups are offered for men and women and in Spanish and English. Beliefs and Skills for Domestic Peace is the Center's Partner Abuse Intervention Program, serving around 150 program participants at any one time. Assessments, orientations, and a 24-week (minimum - completion is based on meeting criteria) group intervention is offered at three locations. Services are offered in Spanish and English. The Center has services for gay and bisexual men who abuse an intimate partner. The Center provides Case Management services to participants, mostly unemployed or underemployed and most uninsured. CADP also offers community education and outreach to raise awareness of the problem of domestic abuse and how to end it. The program includes men and women, working together, to end the violence against women and the dehumanization of men. The Center conducts and participates in research to improve services.

Center for Air and Space Law at the University of Mississippi

The University of Mississippi School of Law offers the first and only LL.M. program in the U.S. offering a combined air and space law postgraduate law degree, at an ABA accredited law school. The LL.M. will provide U.S. and non-U.S. attorneys with a rigorous and unique curriculum in U.S., international, and comparative air and space law. Attorneys can choose from on-campus or online venues, full-time or part-time. The LL.M. in Air and Space Law builds on the law school’s history as a leader in space law dating back to 1965. The law school’s Journal of Space Law, the world’s oldest journal devoted to space law, published its first issue in 1973, and is recognized as one of the preeminent journals in the field of space law. The law school has offered courses in both aviation and space law to its students since 2003, with a Concentration in Remote Sensing, Air and Space Law, offered at the J.D. level since 2007. LL.M. students will benefit from the law library’s resources and electronic databases. It is home to one of the most comprehensive collections of air and space law materials in the world. Additionally, LL.M. students will have access to the University of Mississippi School of Law’s Space Law Archive, a unique repository for records related to the development of air and space law. The Archive also contains the personal correspondence, manuscripts, and professional papers of individuals who dedicated their lives and careers to the development of air and space law, such as Andrew G. Haley, Eilene M. Galloway, and Stephen Gorove. Qualified LL.M. students also have the opportunity to join the editorial board of the Journal of Space Law, and the Manfred Lachs Moot Court Competition Team.
