Our busy, modern hospital provides a full range of district general services, including an accident and emergency department, and links with satellite units in five community hospitals. We are the main provider of acute hospital services to a population of around 210,000, living within Weymouth and Portland, West Dorset, North Dorset and Purbeck. We also provide renal services for patients throughout Dorset and South Somerset; a total population of 850,000. Our staff work in GP surgeries, schools, residential homes and people’s own homes as well as Dorset County Hospital and the community hospitals.

Dorset Marine Training is a training provider based in a unique location in Poole Harbour, providing training in practical boating on motor and powerboats and theory; on-water, on-land and on-line. We are also able to offer assisted boat deliveries. We operate all year round and seven days a week. We run RYA courses for those that want a certificated course but also run bespoke tuition on power or motor cruisers for those that have their own boats and wish to focus on particular areas of boating. Some people choose to concentrate on practising handling the boat in a marina, other want to undertake a journey a little further afield and want an Instructor on board for support or to help plan and others wish to focus on informal training for all the family to ensure everyone know how to operate the boat when the going gets tough. RYA Courses available: Powerboat Level 1 Powerboat Level 2 - (ICC and CENVI) VHF/SRC Marine Radio Essential Navigation Dayskipper Theory Yachtmaster Theory Our Chief Instructor, Dom Coleman, is a Yachtmaster Instructor and Commercial Skipper who has experience across a wide range of boats from small safety boats to 50ft Motor Cruisers. He is also Commercially Endorsed at Yachtmaster Offshore Sail level so is equally at home on sailing boats.
