Dermpat is een laboratorium gespecialiseerd in de humane huid (dermato) pathologie. Naast onderzoek van tumorale huidpathologie, waar pigmentletsels een bijzonder positie innemen, zijn wij dankzij onze clinicopathologische benadering, ook onderlegd in de functionele en inflammatoire dermatopathologie. Historiek Labo Dermpat werd in 2011 opgericht door Dr. Marc Haspeslagh. Na zijn opleiding in de pathologische anatomie en genetica aan de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, werkte hij gedurende meer dan 20 jaar als algemeen patholoog in het Stedelijk Ziekenhuis te Roeselare. Daar ontstond zijn interesse voor huidpathologie en sinds 2005 spitst hij zich voornamelijk toe op de dermatopathologie. In 2011 werd labo Dermpat opgericht in samenwerking met het klinische laboratorium Declerck in Ardooie. Na 5 jaar bloeiende activiteit vanuit Ardooie, werd in 2016 gestart met de verbouwing en de inrichting van een nieuw laboratorium in Gent, in een schitterend art-deco pand. Na één jaar verbouwingswerken, opende op 18 april 2017 Dermpat haar deuren in Gent. Visie en missie Het is ons doel om in de komende jaren verder te bouwen aan een onafhankelijk state of the art huidpathologiecentrum waar de clinicopathologische correlatie centraal staat in de diagnostiek. Hierbij is een intense band met de verwijzende clinici, voornamelijk dermatologen, cruciaal. Het uitwisselen van klinische informatie en fotografische documentatie, alsook het gebruik van ex vivo dermoscopie zijn hierbij essentieel. Er wordt getracht om bij ieder rapport, naast de morfologisch beschrijvende diagnose, ook steeds een clinicopathologische correlatie en eventueel een therapeutisch advies te geven. Onze werkwijze maakt gebruik van de nieuwe onderzoeksmethode ex vivo dermoscopie met derm dotting die door Dermpat ontwikkeld werd en die in 2013 gepubliceerd werd (Am J Dermatopathol. 2013).

Our mission is to collect and disseminate the knowledge, science and experience of dermatology and dermatopathology, fields of medicine concerned with understanding, diagnosing and treating diseases of the skin.
