L’Etablissement Public de Santé Mentale de l’agglomération lilloise prend en charge les personnes souffrant de troubles psychiques au sein de la population des 540.000 habitants de Lille, Roubaix, Villeneuve d’Ascq et environs. Il fait partie du GHT (Groupement Hospitalier de Territoire) de Psychiatrie du Nord Pas-de-Calais, avec les EPSM Lille-Métropole, des Flandres et Val-de-Lys Artois. L’EPSM de l’agglomération lilloise gère ainsi 403 lits, 40 places de Maison d’Accueil Spécialisée, 132 places d’hospitalisation à temps partiel, 27 Centres Médico-Psychologiques (CMP) / Centres d’Accueil Thérapeutique à Temps Partiel (CATTP), 24 appartements thérapeutiques, 2 ateliers thérapeutiques, 8 places d’Accueil Familial Thérapeutique, 1 Permanence d’Accès aux Soins de Santé (PASS), 1 dispositif de réécoute des suicidants, 1 dispositif périnatalité, 2 dispositifs de réussite éducative, 1 Pôle d’addictologie (avec un volet sanitaire, une EHLSA et un volet médico-social CSAPA), 1 centre de formation, 2 dispositifs tournés vers la précarité… La file active totale de l'EPSM de l'agglomération lilloise était de 22 652 patients en 2017, avec 90% des prises en charge exclusivement en ambulatoire, c'est-à-dire en CMP, CATTP, VAD, psy de liaison. Parmi cette population, l'EPSM de l'agglomération lilloise a accueilli 10 000 nouveaux patients (chiffres RIMP 2017). L'EPSM de l'agglomération lilloise, c'est aujourd'hui 1 496 professionnels dont •99 médecins, •994 soignants et rééducation (dont 80 psychologues), •9 personnels médico-techniques, •75 personnels socio-éducatifs, •171 personnels administratifs, •148 personnels techniques et logistiques.

L’Établissement Public de Santé Mentale Lille-Métropole comprend 10 secteurs (9 de psychiatrie générale, 1 de psychiatrie de l’enfant et de l’adolescent). Il dispose de 182 lits (hors médico social) dont une structure intersectorielle 16/25 ans de 10 lits, 110 lits en Maison d’Accueil Spécialisée avec 10 places d’accueil de jour, 156 places d’hospitalisation à temps partiel sur 9 Hôpitaux de jour, 12 antennes de consultation, 15 Centres Médico-Psychologiques (CMP), 14 Centres d’Accueil Thérapeutique à Temps Partiel (CATTP), 5 appartements thérapeutiques soit 41 lits, 3 ateliers thérapeutiques, 12 places d’Accueil Familial Thérapeutique, 23 dispositifs d’équipes mobiles, 4 centres de consultation spécialisée, 8 lits de centre intersectoriel d’accueil et de crise, 8 lits en centre de post cure, 1 CCOMS, 1 Esat-Etic et 4 centres de proximité de réhabilitation psychosociale. L’EPSM Lille-Métropole est l’établissement support du GHT de Psychiatrie du Nord Pas-de-Calais qui réunit les EPSM de Lille-Métropole (Armentières), agglomération lilloise (Saint-André-Lez-Lille), des Flandres (Bailleul) et Val de Lys - Artois (Saint-Venant). Aujourd’hui, dans tous les secteurs de psychiatrie du GHT de Psychiatrie du Nord Pas-de-Calais, la prise en charge en ambulatoire représente la majeure partie des actes. 90% de la prise en charge se réalise en ambulatoire, dans des lieux de consultation comme les Centres Médico-Psychologiques ou Centres de Santé Mentale, les Hôpitaux de jour ou les lieux d’activités comme les Centres d’Accueil Thérapeutique à Temps Partiel. Environ 10 % des personnes qui s’adressent à l’EPSM Lille-Métropole nécessitent une hospitalisation. La durée moyenne d'un séjour est d'environ 20 jours. En France, les troubles psychiques concernent environ 1 personne sur 4. 1,4 million de personnes sont suivies par les services de psychiatrie publique en France.
