The Erie Community Foundation, which is located at 459 West 6th Street, traces its history back to 1935 when Elisha H. Mack, co-founder of the Boston Store, created a charitable endowment fund. The Erie County Legislature functions as the governing, lawmaking and policymaking body of Erie County government, pursuant to the laws of the State of New York and the duties defined in the Erie County Charter and Administrative Code. The Legislature is comprised of eleven (11) members, elected by County voters from eleven equally-apportioned districts. The Legislature conducts its work through eight (8) standing committees that closely examine County business, with each committee submitting recommendations to the full body for final disposition.
