At Eastman, our passion is music. We believe that music enriches the heart, nourishes the mind, and heals the soul. We believe in the power of music to transform lives. We study music in the classroom, engage with music in the rehearsal room, live with music in the practice room, investigate and reveal music through scholarship, perform music on stages, and share music throughout the community. A favorite T-shirt logo at the Eastman School of Music (ESM) is “Eat, Sleep, Music.” Music is about communication. As the great composer Gustav Mahler wrote, “If a composer could say what he had to say in words he would not bother trying to say it in music.” In order to have something meaningful to say, a musician must lead a rich and interesting life. Toward that end, we believe in educating the whole student—not just about the techniques of music, but also through the study of humanities, by interdisciplinary pursuits, and by converging music with other arts. Eastman is an amazing community of artists, performers, composers, and scholars who are committed to preparing students for meaningful lives in music. The questions we grapple with are: What will these lives look like years into the future?, and: How can we best prepare our students to lead and shape that future? We believe that a core foundation of absolute musical excellence, enhanced by innovative initiatives like the Institute for Music Leadership, provides the formula for inspiring outstanding musicians to make a difference in the world through music. Engraved on the façade of the Eastman Theatre is the phrase, “for the enrichment of community life.” We are committed to enriching life through music. If your passion is music, I encourage you to browse the pages of our web site to learn more about the Eastman School of Music, and I invite you to visit Eastman to experience the richness of our remarkable community in person. East Midlands Trains is part of Stagecoach Group plc, which also operates South West Trains, Sheffield Supertram and Manchester Metrolink plus bus services in the UK and the US. We run fast, frequent services between London St Pancras International and key destinations throughout the East Midlands, including Leicester, Derby, Sheffield, Nottingham, Manchester and Liverpool. We were awarded the franchise to take over the running of these services, previously operated by Midland Mainline and Central Trains, on 22 June, 2007. Our trains went into service on 11 November, 2007 and since then we have been working hard to improve punctuality, reliability and facilities at our stations and on board our trains. We are currently investing in a multi-million pound refurbishment of our entire fleet of trains as well as improving stations across the East Midlands Trains network. We aim to provide efficient public rail transport that provides a practical alternative to car travel. We recognise that our operations impact on the environment and aim to limit our negative environmental impact through initiatives such as reducing emissions, energy and water use within our premises, producing less waste and implementing recycling measures, and working with customers and stakeholders to provide sustainable and integrated transport solutions to local communities.

Eastminsters Vision To be a bright light of love and hope for all people in this community and the world. Eastminsters Mission To lead people to a commitment to Jesus Christ through a life of: Reaching Up to enjoy God. It is the heart of what we do. Every Saturday & Sunday we gather to receive the love of God and reach up to him together. Reaching Out to engage His world. He calls us to be humble servants of all, to show and tell others about Jesus. So we pray, help build homes of those in need, travel on mission trips, serve meals to the hungry and lonely, sponsor refugee families, and love every kid we can find. Reaching In to equip and encourage His people. We are about growing and keeping on as apprentices of Jesus. During the week, we have numerous classes and activities for all ages.
