El Centro College became the flagship college of the district. Its name reflects the center of the downtown area. El Centro first opened its campus doors in 1966. Its central location allows students from all parts of Dallas County to take advantage of core educational courses transferable to four-year institutions, as well as career training in more than 50 exciting fields and a variety of continuing/workforce education courses. Students at El Centro are of all ages and come from all walks of life eager to take advantage of the many exciting and popular programs offered here. El Centro was the first college of the DCCCD to offer a nursing program and has established relationships with several top-notch hospitals in the Dallas area. It is also the only college within DCCCD that offers a Food & Hospitality Program.

Every year over a thousand youth, adults and other community stakeholders access our array of multicultural services. Last year we served youth and adults from urban and rural neighborhoods by providing bilingual Outpatient Treatment services, school-based Prevention Education classes, Specialty Services such as Batterers Intervention, Anger Management and Parenting Education, and large group Community & Family Outreach presentations made to agencies, schools, community fairs. The mission of El Centro de Libertad is to help individuals, families, and communities of all cultures suffering from the impact of substance abuse and related issues to achieve and maintain health, strength, and recovery. El Centro de Libertad was founded in 1994 in response to the growing need for culturally competent drug and alcohol services for adults in urban centers; however, the gap between need and available services in San Mateo County, particularly in bilingual communities, has resulted in El Centro providing Outpatient Treatment services to both adults and youth, and in both urban centers and as well as rural Coastside communities.

El Centro Family Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center based out of The City of Espanola, serving the Northern New Mexico region. We provide affordable, accessible, quality health care via medical/behavioral, dental, and school-based health services.

Three decades and two generations of experience and passion go into every smiling face and mouth watering bite that make-up El Chaparral. Our family history is etched into everything we do. In 1972, our parents, Charlie and Mary Garcia, followed their dream to a small eatery in Helotes, Texas. We sold our home in San Antonio and moved into the modest living quarters behind the restaurant. Some of our earliest memories are playing in the kitchen with our older sister Jessica and swimming in the creek behind the restaurant. As Mom managed the books, Papa focused on developing a menu that would keep customers coming back. Drawing from Tex-Mex roots and Latin inspirations, our reputation was born. Our little family business blossomed into a local dining sensation. Still, though we have grown considerably, there is no compromise on the quality that comes out of kitchens. The best ingredients and savory cuisine made fresh daily is our family motto. From the enchiladas to our famous bean soup. El Chaparral has served up only the best for our customers and friends. Mom and Papa have since retired, but the two can still be seen from time to time greeting friends and customers. Their commitment to service has never wavered. “I still have to come in and say ’Hi’ to my customers,” says Papa.
