L’EM Strasbourg Business School est une école de commerce née de la fusion en octobre 2007 entre l’IECS (institut européen d'études commerciales supérieures) créé en 1919 et l’IAE de Strasbourg. Elle a été ré-accréditée EPAS jusqu'en 2022. Elle a également été accréditée AACSB en 2021 pour 5 ans, et AMBA en 2020 pour 3 ans. L’EM Strasbourg a également obtenu l’accréditation EQUIS en mars 2022, pour une durée de trois ans. En juillet 2021, seules 108 institutions dans le monde possèdent cette triple accréditation.   Intégrée au sein de l’Université de Strasbourg depuis 2009, l’école développe un modèle de fonctionnement atypique en France où les écoles de commerce sont généralement financées et gérées en partie par les chambres de commerce et d’industrie. Ce modèle reste malgré tout calqué sur les références internationales ce qui lui permet de combiner les apports académiques et le soutien de l'université tout en s'appuyant sur des partenaires du secteur consulaire, des collectivités locales, d'EM Strasbourg Partenaires (association regroupant plus de 200 entreprises partenaires), et de celui du réseau de ses 25 000 diplômés.   Le statut de capitale européenne de la ville de Strasbourg a historiquement donné une orientation internationale à l'EM Strasbourg, se traduisant notamment par 241 accords universitaires et une année d'étude obligatoire à l'étranger, pour les étudiants du programme grande école.
