Das Forschungsinstitut Betriebliche Bildung (f-bb) arbeitet im Bereich der anwendungsorientierten Berufsbildungsforschung. Es besteht seit 2003 und beschäftigt derzeit etwa 160 Mitarbeiter*innen an fünf Standorten (Hauptsitz Nürnberg, Büros in Berlin, Chemnitz, Magdeburg und Potsdam). Damit ist das f-bb eine der großen außeruniversitären Einrichtungen der Berufsbildungsforschung in Deutschland. Das f-bb gliedert seine Forschungsvorhaben in verschiedenen Kompetenzfeldern: • Berufliche Kompetenzen feststellen und entwickeln • Innovationen in der Berufsbildung • Lernen und arbeiten in der digitalisierten Welt • Inklusion und berufliche Rehabilitation • Übergänge und Durchlässigkeit • Migration und Arbeitsmarkt • Berufsbildung international Die Forschungsprojekte werden weitgehend aus Mitteln der Ressortforschung gefördert, d. h. durch Bundes- und Landesministerien und die Europäische Kommission. Daneben zählen auch Unternehmen, Verbände und andere Organisationen zu den Auftraggebern. Außerdem betreibt das Institut zusammen mit der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg den Master-Studiengang Personal und Organisation. Bei der Projektdurchführung, aber auch bei allen Fragen der internen Organisation verfolgt das f-bb eine werteorientierte Unternehmensphilosophie. Handlungsleitend sind Werte wie Nachhaltigkeit, Vielfalt und Familienfreundlichkeit. Diese Haltung dokumentiert das Institut u.a. durch seine Mitgliedschaft bei verschiedenen Initiativen und Netzwerken.
