FairVentures is the innovation initiative of Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd., with the mandate to research, develop, partner and invest in innovative solutions to support the Fairfax family of companies. We recognize that Fairfax companies need to be on the leading edge of emerging technologies, processes and thoughts as well as their application to industry in order to stay competitive. The purpose of the FairVentures initiative is twofold: 1) to generate and develop new business ideas and 2) evaluate new technologies, opportunities and businesses that are applicable to our subsidiaries and their customers. FairVentures operates an innovation and research lab at the Communitech Hub in Kitchener, Ontario; providing access to the vibrant technology and entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Waterloo Region.

Located on 70 acres of riverfront land in Groton, CT, Fairview was founded in 1892 by the CT Independent Order of Odd Fellows Grand Lodge as a non-profit senior housing and healthcare provider. Today, the campus includes multiple facilities, providing rehabilitation services and options for independent living. Although membership in the Odd Fellows is no longer required for admission, we are still guided by the organization’s principles of friendship, love and truth. In recent years, Fairview has expanded many of its services. Our skilled nursing care has been enhanced with a cardiac rehabilitation program led by Cardiologist C. W. Andrias. We have our Guided Journeys memory care program which is specifically designed to provide the level of assistance needed to improve the quality of life for our residents with memory impairment. Fairview is an organization committed to dignity, respect, health and wellness, a holistic approach, a homelike environment, education, advocacy and support. In addition to outstanding skilled care and post acute care, Fairview has 24 independent living rental apartments and 40 independent living buy-in homes as part of our continuum of care. “I had the pleasure of being a patient at Fairview after having multiple hip replacement surgeries. At Fairview, I have never in my life been treated so well by everyone I encountered. The nurses, the CNA's, the housekeepers, the dietary dept and administrative staff. They also have a restaurant inside Fairview where you can go with guests to have coffee, homemade dessert or meal. Fairview International School is the largest network of International Baccalaureate (IB) World Schools in Malaysia. It has five IB World Schools, located respectively in Penang, Johor Bahru, Subang Jaya, Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur. Additionally, it also owns a school in Scotland.
