Friends of IT

information technology and services

As a software development partner of SMEs, Enterprises and Startups we deliver software engineering expertise in a friendly way. Addressing a business challenge with a software solution can be quite a rollercoaster for companies, regardless of their size or industry. Many projects fail to deliver the desired outcome and can involve a lot more stress than expected. The rising demand for software solutions has led to a scarcity of qualified engineers. Solving this problem is not easy, and will require changes in education systems. It could be decades before the resource gap is even partially closed. Meanwhile, businesses around the globe will still need people who can provide the necessary resources, understand their challenges and deliver a valuable service. In other words, people like us! Friends of Mimosa Hall & Gardens

Friends of Mimosa Hall & Gardens is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to championing sustainable preservation of Mimosa Hall & Gardens, where history and culture engage and uplift community. Mimosa Hall, a Greek Revival style home in Roswell, Georgia, was built in 1841 for Roswell founding father John Dunwody. Mimosa Hall was named by a later owner for its many mimosa trees. In 1918, noted architect J. Neel Reid purchased the house and designed its iconic five-acre gardens. The property remained in private hands until 2017, when the City of Roswell purchased the home and its surrounding 9 acres. The Friends of Mimosa Hall & Gardens support the restoration and maintenance of Mimosa Hall. We have a 100% active board. Our accomplishments have been featured on media across the US, including Yale Climate Connections, WSB-TV, and WABE radio.

friends of refugees inc.

nonprofit organization management

Friends of Refugees is an independent not for profit organisation which has responded to the worlds worst humanitarian crisis, helping to create a positive future for people seeking asylum and refugees in Australia. Founded in early 2013, Friends of Refugees Inc. (FOR) has developed as a practical response to address the complexities and changing needs of people seeking asylum and refugees in Victoria by filling in the service gaps that the funded organisations do not meet. Friends of Refugees has become a central source of first-line relief for people seeking asylum in Melbournes South-east. The ranges of services we provide include material aid, food aid, education support, job training and resettlement programs. Our office in Dandenong operates as a drop-in centre which provides a welcoming and safe environment for people in desperate need. People seeking asylum are one of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in Australia. They have no guaranteed right to income, healthcare or settlement services and survive on 89% of a NewStart allowance. FOR supports people seeking asylum and refugees in the community by providing material aid and food aid, and support services and employment opportunities through various Social Enterprises. All our programs are run without any government funding and at no cost to the participants, including adults and children, who are refugees and people seeking asylum. FOR supports people seeking asylum and refugees in detention, on bridging visas and in the community. We are a volunteer run not for profit organisation, able to operate by the generous donations of concerned and compassionate Australians who contribute to our work.

Friends of Rosie Children's Cancer Research Fund

Friends of Rosie is a volunteer-led charity that provides funding for childhood cancer research to get new ideas off the ground. Without our help many research projects would never get underway, meaning critical breakthroughs in childhood cancer research being left undiscovered. When five year old Rosie Larkin lost her battle with cancer in 1991, her friends and family were determined to carry on the fight. They set up the Friends of Rosie Children’s Cancer Research Fund. So far, we have funded a total of 25 research projects at a cost of £2.5 million. They cover a wide variety of childhood cancers from neuroblastoma and leukaemia, to osteosarcoma and brain tumours. The research ideas we fund are right at the outset of medical thinking and innovation. We give these ideas the chance to make a difference. Many childhood cancers still have a poor outlook and today’s treatments are harsh, unpleasant and uncertain, especially on young bodies that are still growing. We want to ensure that every penny donated to us is spent in the most effective way to benefit childhood cancer research. And we do that by: - Being volunteer-led, meaning no costly CEO salaries absorbing part of your donation. All our amazing Trustees are volunteers and support Friends of Rosie because they truly believe that research is the key to curing childhood cancer. - Keeping our overheads to an absolute minimum with only one part time member of staff and donated office space. Because of this we can guarantee that almost every penny donated will go directly on funding research. - Operating a unique and independent project review process, involving national and international oncology experts. They provide us with impartial recommendations of the projects they deem as potentially game changing for childhood cancer. And they are all volunteers too. Support us today and be the difference for children with cancer tomorrow.

friends of ruwenzori foundation

hospital & health care

The mission of Friends of Ruwenzori Foundation is to reduce preventable deaths and foster healthy living among the people of the Ruwenzori foothills of Uganda by supporting the rural region's only local hospital and economic empowerment and health programs. We are the funding partners of KIDA (Kitojo Integrated Development Association), a Ugandan-run non-governmental organization. KIDA fights HIV/AIDS and poverty and runs a small hospital in the rural communities of the Ruteete Subcounty of the Kabarole District in Western Uganda. We fully support KIDA's mission, which is to "enable vulnerable individuals and communities to take care of their own lives." Although many of our members are motivated by a religious faith, we are not a sectarian organization but a humanitarian one. We do not discriminate on the basis of religion, race, creed or sexual orientation. Our inspiration comes from the people in Uganda who are bravely fighting the AIDS epidemic with very limited financial resources but with deep religious faith, hope for the future and genuine love for one another in this poor rural community. Their perseverance and resourcefulness truly demonstrate the tenacity of the human spirit. We greatly admire KIDA’s director, Rev. Ezra Musobozi and his wife Marjorie, who together provide the vision and effectively mobilize people into compassionate service. Watch the short video above, filmed at KIDA in 2010, and meet these lovely people. We named our organization after the beautiful mountain range that towers over this area: the Ruwenzori mountains. “Ruwenzori” is a distortion of a Ritooro word that means “rainmaker”. The mountains are so named because the tallest peaks are almost perpetually covered with clouds. The people who live and farm the land here believe that the rain brings the blessings of God.
