Træ gennem tiden Frøslev Træ A/S, som virksomheden hedder i dag - blev startet i 1931 af Johannes Carlsen på grundstykket, som hustruen Mariane havde fået i medgift. Johannes Carlsen begyndte savværksvirksomhed under trange og slidsomme kår, hvor Hans Hansen, den lokale skraldemand, med hest slæbte træstammerne ud af skoven og med hestevogn transporterede træet hjem til forarbejdning på savværket i Frøslev. Det var et opslidende arbejde, hvor han ene mand måtte læsse de tunge træstammer. Til opskæringen havde Johannes Carlsen i begyndelsen én enkelt fritstående sav, der blev trukket af en gammel, larmende petroleumsmotor. Denne var overdækket med et primitivt tag båret af en nedgravet granpæl i hvert hjørne, hvorved han fik ly for vejr og vind. Virksomheden blev under 2. verdenskrig brugt som tilholdssted for danske frihedskæmpere. Savværket var i familien Carlsens eje frem til 1978, hvor Jens P. L. Petersen og Fuglsang Savværk købte det til eksportvirksomhed og lager med Jens P. L. Petersen som primus motor og daglig leder. I 1982 overtog Jens P. L. Petersen savværket, og i de følgende år blev der løbende foretaget moderniseringer. I perioden frem til 1985 blev der savet omkring 30.000 m3 pr. år. I november 1985 blev Frøslev Savværk desværre flammernes bytte, hvor både produktionsbygninger og maskiner nedbrændte til grunden. Savværket lå stille indtil 1988, hvor Jens P. L. Petersen og hustru Christa L. Petersen atter pustede liv i det, nu under navnet Frøslev Træ. Virksomheden blev ændret til en handels- og engrosvirksomhed med speciale i forarbejdet og/eller trykimprægneret fyrtømmer. Sønnen Martin L. Petersen indtrådte i januar 2011, som et led i et planlagt generationsskifte, i den daglige ledelse. I slutningen af 2012 overtog Martin L. Petersen virksomheden, efter endelig gennemførelse af generationsskiftet. Frøslev Træ A/S beskæftiger i dag knap 100 medarbejdere og regnes for at være blandt landets største grossister indenfor træbranchen.
