To offer the young people of Monterey County opportunities for a better future. We do this through active involvement in life skills that are learned at our campus, in the classroom and in service and mentorship to each other and the community. The Future Citizens Foundation runs three different programs in Monterey County that provide people of all backgrounds the opportunity to develop as future citizens of the community. The First Tee of Monterey County at the Twin Creeks golf course in Salinas, California serves over 6,000 participants of different backgrounds and provides an opportunity to develop, through golf and character education, life-enhancing values. The Pay It Forward Scholarship and Mentoring Program, through private funds, provides a $20,000 four-year scholarship at California State University, Monterey Bay, to local Monterey County students who are first-generation college students. Lastly, the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach brings junior participants, Champions Tour pros and select amateurs together on one of golf’s most beautiful stages.The tournament is hosted by Monterey Peninsula Foundation which also stages the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the PGA TOUR and has generated more millions of dollars for charity since 1937.

Dat gebeurt hier en nu. Maar als we willen dat er daadwerkelijk sprake is van technologische vooruitgang, moeten we ook keuzes maken over hoe de techniek onze leefomgeving beïnvloedt. Gedegen politieke keuzes over nieuwe publieke waarden. Verstandige keuzes over welke techniek we daarvoor inzetten. Doordachte ontwerpkeuzes over de inrichting van onze steden en dorpen. Wat wij doen Future City is het eerste smart city netwerk dat zich focust op de vraag van de stad (zoals hierboven geformuleerd in onze visie). Een vrijplaats voor gemeenten en andere overheden om eigen oplossingen te ontwikkelen én te experimenteren. Wij zoeken antwoorden door stedenbouwers en technologie-professionals te verbinden. Future City is een initiatief van bedrijven en overheden die de uitwisseling van kennis, gedachten, ideeën en oplossingen tussen technologie-professionals, bestuurders en stedenbouwers willen stimuleren. We organiseren events waar deze groepen met elkaar in contact komen. Tijdens die events staan de maatschappelijke uitdagingen centraal en laten we de groepen samen oplossingen bedenken. Zo leren ze van elkaars kennis en kunde en kunnen ze daar allebei mee aan de slag. Future City Summit is a multi-lateral development organization bringing corporates, governments, startups, and academia for partnership. The organization is founded with the Global Partnership Seed Fund from Vice President Office of The University of Hong Kong.
