The Federal University, Dutse (FUD), received its charter from the Federal Government of Nigeria on February 9, 2011. The University’s campus is located in the capital of Jigawa State, Dutse, an ancient town in north-western Nigeria. The University’s host town, Dutse, offers the charm of a small agricultural town, with easy access to major metropolitan areas such as Kano, Bauchi, Maiduguri, and Kaduna. The University recognizes the importance of its location in Dutse and seeks to link its research and teaching to the vast resources of these great metropolitan areas in the surrounding states. FUD seeks to attract a diverse and international faculty and student body, to support research and teaching on global issues, and to create academic relationships with many universities and higher education institutions in Nigeria and across the world. It expects all areas of the university to advance knowledge and learning at the highest level and to convey the products of its efforts to the community, the nation, and the world. As a new Federal Government-owned institution, FUD offers a broad range of degree programs in the Humanities, the Natural and the Social Sciences, and Agriculture, and, in years to come, courses in Management Sciences, Environmental Studies, Law, Education, Engineering, and Medicine.

The University was established on 13th November 2002 under Ordinance No. CXIX of 2002 promulgated by the President of Pakistan. As per provision of this ordinance the university has its principal seat at Islamabad . The university started functioning in November 2002 by taking over two federal government colleges namely Federal Urdu Science College, Karachi and Federal Urdu Arts College , Karachi . The principal seat of the university at Islamabad commenced its teaching programs in November 2003. Message of VC: The acumen of Education especially higher & Secondary Education has become an important phenomenon for the development of any Nation in the contemporary world. It not only promotes quality education but also helps in production of highly industrious human resources, who later on become torchbearer and backbone of the progress and prosperity of the populace. In the prospects of the notion of time and complex realities of the age of globalization it is highly desirable that our youth must be brought up with improvising ideas and vast imagination to cope with the emerging challenges of modern era. Keeping in view this paradigm, FUUAST is embarked on developing a culture, which once established henceforth, would be giving a light of knowledge and understanding for the future generations of Pakistan. The mission statement of FUUAST is wide-ranging covering all the aspects of its basic existence, so as to use Urdu & English language as a medium of instruction for the attainment of national objectives. Then to modernize our teaching methodology with basic research direction and investigative thinking and above all to give our students a vision which sees beyond territories for the betterment and upright of humanity as a whole.

The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) works to ensure Service members, their eligible family members and overseas citizens are aware of their right to vote and have the tools and resources to successfully do so from anywhere in the world. The Director of FVAP administers the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) on behalf of the Secretary of Defense. UOCAVA, as amended by the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) Act, requires States to transmit requested absentee ballots to UOCAVA voters no later than 45 days before a federal election. Those citizens protected by UOCAVA include: Members of the Uniformed Services (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Corps) Members of the Merchant Marines Eligible family members of the above U.S. citizens residing outside the U.S. FVAP assists voters through partnerships with the Military Services, Department of State, Department of Justice and election officials from 50 States, U.S. territories and the District of Columbia.
