Flamefast UK

mechanical or industrial engineering

Flamefast started manufacturing Bunsen Burners for British Gas in 1973 when the UK changed from using town gas to natural gas and from there very quickly became the main innovators for training equipment to schools and colleges for the teaching of foundry crafts which is still to this day part of the UK curriculum. Since then the company has established itself as a market leader in the design and supply of turnkey workshop solutions for Design and Technology/Engineering in schools, colleges and universities both in the UK and overseas. Along with the workshop solutions, Flamefast became market leaders in gas proving/safety systems for technology workshops and science laboratories to the UK education sector and since 2003 have also been the main innovator for gas safety and interlocking solutions for the commercial catering industry as a new. The 2013 directive (BS6173) required an interlock system must be fitted to all commercial kitchens which used gas as a fuel source. The Flamefast GasGuard technology was a perfect solution for this and effectively took Flamefast into a completely new market. In 2014, legislation was extended to include the fitting of Carbon Dioxide Detectors. In 2009, new legislation was introduced which stated that in all educational establishments were gas was being used, Carbon Dioxide detection must also be installed, hence Flamefast launching their own range of detectors manufactured in the UK. These detectors are now being supplied to BMS controls companies as standard products. In June of 2010, Flamefast capitalised on its extensive knowledge of requirements for extraction system for fume and dust systems in the education sector and formed the new division of Flamefast Extraction Solutions effectively offering a complete service in the design, supply, testing and servicing of waste extraction systems, heating & ventilation systems, dust & fume extraction, centralised vacuum systems and commercial kitchen canopies and ductwork. In July 2015 Flamefast were pleased to announce the acquisition of Scotmech Engineering based in Glasgow. Scotmech had been a long term partner for Flamefast in the Scottish Education market and this allowed further progression for Flamefast and Scotmech offering turnkey Design & Technology solutions for the Scottish Education Sector. During 2017 Flamefast started negotiations to acquisition Weldspares a wholesale distributor of welding, safety and industrial equipment within the UK with a recently expanded range into PPE, Safety products, Workwear and tools and by the end of 2017 Flamefast proudly announced the completed merger.
