Es un Acuerdo Financiero Regional (AFR) creado en 1978 (originalmente Fondo Andino de Reservas -FAR-), en respuesta a la necesidad de Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú y Venezuela de contar con una institución financiera propia, que permitiera afrontar los problemas derivados de los desequilibrios del sector externo de sus economías y facilitara el proceso de integración regional. Se constituyó en el segundo Acuerdo Financiero Regional del mundo. En 1989, partiendo de las bases firmes de un organismo en pleno funcionamiento, el FAR se transformó en el Fondo Latinoamericano de Reservas (FLAR) ante la iniciativa de los países andinos miembros de ampliar el FAR a toda América Latina. Es así como Costa Rica, Uruguay, Paraguay adhirieron como países miembros del FLAR en 2001, 2008, 2015 respectivamente y 2022 el Banco Central de Chile se hizo miembro del FLAR como Banco Central Asociado.

FLARM is a traffic awareness, collision avoidance, identification and tracking technology for General Aviation, light aircraft, and UAVs. With FLARM installed, you are alerted of both traffic and imminent collisions with other aircraft, so you can take action before it is too late. Nearly 40.000 manned aircraft and many UAVs are already equipped with FLARM and the number is rapidly increasing. FLARM systems are available from several manufacturers for powered aircraft, helicopters, gliders, and UAVs. A community-based network of around 1.700 ground receiver stations allows real-time tracking and identification of all FLARM-equipped aircraft.
