This unit is responsible for formulating and implementing safety policies and standards, drivers training and retraining, drivers’ health management and drivers’ pre-and-post employment medical tests among others. The unit is contributing to the organizational goals of zero-accidents. Our commitment to safety in truck driving is further exemplified through our recruitment process which includes compulsory pre-employment drivers’ medical tests for blood sugar, tuberculosis, vision acuity, alcohol and drug tests. These tests are also conducted on regular basis after employment to ascertain the true state of drivers’ health. The recruitment process is climaxed with a driving test, under the supervision of certified truck drivers’ trainers. These are all indications of the importance we attach to safety and safe driving and we intend to continue maintaining these standards.
