We know that receiving a cancer diagnosis can be a devastating experience; the emotional strain can be as shattering as the physical disease itself. HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre exists to offer you information, emotional support, and the tools needed for empowerment, personal growth and self-help. We help people meet the challenge of cancer. The atmosphere at HopeSpring is warm and relaxed. Anyone affected by cancer can call or drop in during our operating hours. No referral is necessary. Our trained volunteers generously offer their skills, inspiration and knowledge to help others living with cancer. They are available to share information about programs and services or offer emotional support in an informal environment. HopeSpring is not a residential centre and we do not offer medical advice or counselling. Since the doors opened in 1995, we have supported those who have been affected by cancer in many ways. We provide a connection to others who have had experience with a cancer journey. We offer support groups, classes, relaxation therapies, a boutique for wigs and camisoles, workshops and access to information through our resource library. We are a community-based non-profit organization that relies entirely on donation for daily operations and programs. The confidential services we offer at HopeSpring are all free of charge.

1 in 41 people, ages 13 and over, are HIV+ in Baltimore City. In 4 zip codes, that rate is closer to 1 in 20 people. In 2006, Central Presbyterian and Grace Fellowship in Timonium were awakened to the HIV/AIDS epidemic and joined hands to respond, founding HopeSprings. Since then, HopeSprings has been equipping and engaging volunteers from 60+ churches to respond to the HIV epidemic in Baltimore serving over 16,000 hours. Through our network of churches, we train volunteers to serve our HIV infected brothers and sisters and partner with local HIV service providers such as AIRS, Moveable Feast and the JACQUES Initiative, an HIV clinic at the University of Maryland’s Institute of Human Virology. Volunteers have the opportunity to serve in many different ways including assisting in testing and linkage to care efforts, meal delivery and assistance, providing tables of people around our brothers and sisters struggling to remain in care or with medication adherence, and providing life skills and mentoring training. Even if you are not infected, we are all affected; either way, you are loved.

Created through a community-wide vision, HopeWest provides comprehensive, expert, and collaborative care for those facing serious illness and grief. We are a nonprofit organization serving western Colorado in Mesa, Delta, Montrose, Ouray, and Rio Blanco counties. We cared for 81 patients and their families in 1993 – our first year of operation. Today, we serve more than 7,000 square miles with five offices and a state-of-the-art HopeWest Hospice Care Center. With a staff of 425 and more than 1,300 volunteers, we provide care to more than 2,500 patients and well-over 1,500 individuals coping with grief every year in the counties we serve. We are so much more than a hospice or health care organization. We have grown and expanded services to become a national respected model for creative and effective hospice and palliative care delivered in private homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted-living facilities and our own Hospice Care Center. We are woven into the communities we serve through our Board of Directors, Foundation Board and Advisory Boards in every community where we have an office. Philanthropy is key to helping support the mission and is raised through grants, individual and corporate gifts, events and support from our retail businesses – Spoons bistro & bakery, Heirlooms for Hospice, Charmed by Heirlooms. Our unique retail outlets help to support our mission through the generosity of the communities we serve. We’re proud of our tradition of collaboration and innovation with our generous communities. It’s our friends and neighbors across the Western Slope who make this type of care possible for anyone in need.
