Hyperfine is a software startup with advanced analytics software for precision medicine. Precision medicine is when researchers use data to build a more complete understanding of the disease and the biology of the patient to better treat, diagnose, and prevent complex diseases. Complex diseases are diseases like autism. Complex diseases are called complex because instead of a single cause - effect, they are caused by many interdependent risk factors and a very complex effect. So to be able to study them, researchers need to do comparative work with many interdependent variables. There is no other software that can perform comparative research like that. Our first method, multilayer analysis (MLA), lets the researcher analyze a multivariable unit across layers of analysis to ultimately answer a multifactorial question. With MLA researchers can study complex research problems that formerly would have involved multiple questions/stages, as a single continuous problem. A second problem exists within research with networks. Commonly networks are examined using the (edges) connections in the networks connecting the (node) element to (node) element, and further understanding of the connected elements is found through searching underlying forces/qualities and relationships. In many fields of biology, those underlying forces are unknown and hard to impossible to find, and be able to use in segregation. Instead of building complexity and taking information away from the network by finding and applying these underlying forces, our second method (the Comprehension Normalization Method - CNM) accesses and applies the underlying forces through top level cluster membership (through proxy) and important second layer structure can be found in the network, without knowing the underlying forces. CNM uses the membership in clusters of a network to find subnetworks of related functionality.
