In France, the Paul Ricard Oceanography Institute was among the precursors in the battle for the environment. In 1966, Paul Ricard founded this institute and assigned it the mission of extending knowledge of the sea and protecting it. Today, under the presidency of Patricia Ricard, the founder’s grand daughter, the Institute is still in the forefront in dealing with the key issues of the day. Started by the Région Hauts-de-France in collaboration with Les Rencontres d'Arles, the Institut pour la photographie is a new resource centre, for dissemination, dialogue and experimentation in order to develop the photographic culture within the general public and to support research and creation. Its programme is based on synergy between five main lines : exhibitions, conservation of photographer's archive, education, edition and a grant programme for new projects. Situated at the crossroads of Europe, this new structure forms part of an inclusive approach stemming from initiatives and local expertise with an international ambition.

LInstitut pour la Ville Durable (IVD) est lassociation française des parties prenantes de la ville durable. LIVD réunit, dans lintérêt général, les collectivités locales (les leaders et les associations), les entreprises de toutes tailles (groupes français mais aussi TPE), lÉtat (principalement ses opérateurs spécialisés) et les experts de la ville (en particulier les organisations professionnelles nationales) pour faire progresser la ville durable en France et à linternational, dans un cadre partenarial équilibré. Cest dabord un lieu de partage et de rencontres à vocation dintérêt général entre tous les acteurs de la ville durable. Par ses actions danimation, de capitalisation, de valorisation et dappui à la recherche et à la formation, mais également par ses groupes de travail sur linnovation dans les thématiques clés de la ville durable, cest aussi un lieu de diffusion des savoir-faire et de rayonnement des acteurs français à linternational.
