The International Cospas-Sarsat Programme is a satellite-based search and rescue (SAR) distress alert detection and information distribution system, established by Canada, France, the United States, and the former Soviet Union (succeeded by the Russian Federations) in 1979. It is best known as the system that detects and locates emergency beacons activated by aircraft, ships and people engaging in recreational activities in remote areas, to summon assistance from SAR authorities. It is credited with helping to rescue over 39,000 people in over 11,000 SAR events since the system first became operational in 1982. Over the years 38 other countries and two agencies have joined the project, either as providers of ground segments or as user states. The International Cospas-Sarsat Programme provides accurate, timely, and reliable distress alert and location data to SAR authorities in 220 countries to help assist persons in distress, reducing, as far as possible, delays in the provision of distress alerts to SAR services, and the time required to locate the persons in distress and provide assistance. Cospas-Sarsat co-operates with the International Civil Aviation Organization, the International Maritime Organization, the International Telecommunication Union and other international organisations to ensure the compatibility of the Cospas-Sarsat distress alerting services with the needs, the standards and the applicable recommendations of the international community.

The International Cost Engineering Council (ICEC) is an nonpolitical and nonprofit organization which was founded in 1976 with the object of promoting cooperation between national and multinational cost engineering, quantity surveying and project management organizations worldwide for their mutual wellbeing and that of their individual members. ICEC member societies are located in more than 40 countries, and have chapters or sections in many additional countries. Through these chapters and sections, ICEC has access to more than 120,000 cost engineers and project managers in over 120 different nations. Regular ICEC meetings are attended by delegates of the member societies where subjects of common interests are exchanged and discussed. Each member society has one vote on the Council. ICEC is divided geographically into regions to encourage communication and to foster joint congresses, symposia, and forums on a continental or regional scale. The Regions are: * Region 1 North and South America; * Region 2 Europe and the Near East; * Region 3 Africa; and * Region 4 Asia Pacific.

The International Cotton Association (ICA) is the world's leading cotton trade association and arbitral body. ICAS was founded in 1967 as a trade and professional association by industry professionals to protect and promote their interests in the growing North American air show marketplace. At the time, this small group of air show event organizers and performers recognized the need for standardization of industry practices in key areas such as safety and business practices that could only be achieved collectively. They knew that -- for such standardization to occur -- the industry needed to act and speak with a single voice and that voice was established in ICAS. When the organization was incorporated in the State of Wisconsin in July of 1976, the ICAS Articles of Incorporation listed its missions as: “To provide information to air show sponsors and pilots; to promote safety at all aviation events; and to work with government agencies to develop air show safety standards.” Today, the organization’s mission statement has evolved a bit, but still focuses on the core principles around which the organization was created: The International Council of Air Shows is dedicated to building and sustaining a vibrant air show industry to support its membership. To achieve this goal, ICAS will demand its members operate their business at only the highest levels of safety, professionalism, and integrity.

ICIFE in Brief (History of ICIFE) The Entry Point Project (EPP) 7 or EPP7 in short is mainly focused on Islamic Finance Education (IFE). The EPP7 is one of the 16 Entry Point Projects (EPPs) under the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) which was inaugurated on 18 September 2012 by The Honorable Minister of Higher Education. The IFE is one of the potential areas for future growth identified during Lab discussions organized by PEMANDU of the Prime Minister Department and eventually approved by the Government of Malaysia for IFE to be under the National Key Economic Areas (NKEAs). The primary aim is to transform Malaysia into THE ISLAMIC EDUCATION HUB for the world. Both the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) play the leading role as Co-Leaders for EPP7. IIUM leads in respect of academic development (Talent & Curriculum) involving key Institutions such as University Utara Malaysia (UUM) and University Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) as National Task Force Members while BNM plays the leading role for the industry. The Governments aspiration is to ensure that Malaysia eventually becomes the Global Hub and Leading Centre for Islamic Finance Education. Special Project Teams were set up specifically for Talent Development and Curriculum Development. The Talent Development Team was assigned to the task of developing a talent-pool of relevant expertise on IFE while the Curriculum Development Team was made responsible for developing a comprehensive curriculum on Islamic Finance ranging from the baccalaureate degree to doctorate levels. Formation and Launching of ICIFE The formation of the International Council of Islamic Finance Educators (ICIFE) was considered timely and much needed for IFE to be made known and promoted worldwide. As the first of its kind for Malaysia and perhaps the world, ICIFE as the Global Body for Professional Certification and Accreditation for Islamic Finance Education.
