International Islamic Centre for Reconciliation and Arbitration (IICRA)

alternative dispute resolution

The IICRA is an international independent non-profit organization that aims to organize settlement of all kinds of banking, financial and commercial disputes with compliance of Sharia Law through institutional reconciliation and arbitration. IICRA was established on 5 April 2005 based on the International Convention embodied by the efforts of many international institutions concerned to support the Islamic financial industry, primarily, the General Council of Islamic Financial Banks and Institutions, the Islamic Development Bank Group and the United Arab Emirates the hosting country where the IICRA’s headquarter located. The constituent assembly attended by representatives of more than seventy (70) Islamic financial institutions from the various Arab and Muslim member states of Islamic Institutions where the rules and organizational structure of IICRA were adapted. IICRA has become one of the most important infrastructure institutions of the Islamic Financial Industry and its legal arm presents the ideal international specialized platform for the settlement of banking, financial and commercial disputes with compliance of the Sharia Law through mutual conciliation and arbitration in accordance with the best practices and standards which is approved internationally. IICRA aims at enabling all dealers in Islamic financial industry whether they are individuals or corporate bodies to resolve their banking, financial and commercial disputes through reconciliation and arbitration in IICRA. Thus, they can avoid the non-specialized judicial and arbitration tribunals that may not have the ability to understand the Sharia and Legal perspective of Islamic financial transactions. In addition, this will avoid the long period of proceedings and high cost of settling the dispute.

international islamic rating agency

financial services

The Islamic International Rating Agency (IIRA) has been set up to provide independent assessments to Islamic financial institutions and capital market instruments globally. IIRAs special focus is on development of capital markets in Islamic countries with a rating spectrum that encompasses the full array of financial transactions and institutions. IIRA is sponsored by multilateral development institutions, leading banks and non-bank financial institutions as well as rating agencies. The Islamic Corporation for Development of the Private Sector and the Islamic Development Bank are its most prominent shareholders with a combined stake of about 27%. IIRAs shareholders operate from eleven countries, which constitute the agencys primary markets.IIRA has received formal recognition from Central Bank of Bahrain as an External Credit Assessment Institution (ECAI). IIRA is also on the list of approved rating agencies of Islamic Development Bank. IIRA believes that the strength of Islamic finance lies in its commitment to fairness. This renders the manner in which a transaction is carried out, as important as the transaction itself. IIRAs specialized focus on organizational governance and conduct of Shariah, augments the rating process, and incorporates the unique features of Islamic finance in a way that broadens the quality perspective. Transparency or absence of Gharar is another fundamental pillar of Islamic transactions. Given the nature of its activities, the presence of a rating agency increases transparency and diminishes information asymmetry in markets, while documenting economies. Over time ratings would enhance the quality of investment decision making, enabling fair exchange.

International Journal for Transformative Research

research

The International Journal for Transformative Research is a fully refereed online journal (ISSN 2332-3736). The creation of which emerged out of a passionate belief that professionals in any work setting can successfully research their own practice with transformative outcomes for themselves and others. We welcome submissions for publication which provide accounts of first-hand experiences where the researcher has experienced a transformational shift in the values, attitudes, beliefs, and/or behavior as a consequence of researching their own practice. Alternatively give an account of how they have had a transformational influence on individuals, groups, organizations, or the wider communities to which they belong. The journal will publish theoretical or conceptual analyses of any aspect of transformation or transformative research; however these analyses must be integrated into an explanation of the research itself, and the analyses need to illuminate explicitly how the research has had a transformative impact. We recognize that the experience of transformation is a personal one, and we wish the articles printed in this journal to communicate the stories of the authors themselves, rather than the author’s writing about the transformation of others in a way that suggests separation and disconnection between themselves and other. We are aware that many professionals are psychologically supported in their work in diverse ways; for example, through the quality of their relationships, through values that are important to them, or through spiritual beliefs and practices that are experienced as nourishing and sustaining. We encourage researchers to feel comfortable and confident in sharing through their writing any aspect of their inner subjective experiences which is relevant to their inquiries. While doing this, it is important to pay attention to the question of validation of any claims to knowledge made as a consequence of researching their own practice.
