Die Gründung der iSi Automotive im Jahr 1995 erfolgte mit Fokus auf die spezifischen Anforderungen der Automobilindustrie. Seit Vereinsgründung ist das erklärte Ziel von I.S.I. gründungswillige Frauen zu motivieren und zu unterstützen. Durch die kostenlosen Weiterbildungsangebote werden die Teilnehmerinnen nicht nur gezielt in ihren Fähigkeiten gefördert, sondern sie erfahren so als Immigrantinnen auch soziale sowie ökonomische Integration in Deutschland. I.S.I. bietet jedes Jahr 50 Kurse zur Existenzgründung an. Jährlich nehmen rund 200 Frauen an den Workshops teil. Seit seiner Gründung vor 30 Jahren hat der Verein mehr als 1.500 Frauen für ihre berufliche Selbständigkeit qualifiziert, gecoacht und begleitet. Das Projekt „COMPETENZentrum für Selbständige“ wird im Rahmen des Europäischen Sozialfonds Plus gefördert aus Mitteln der Europäischen Union und des Landes Berlin.
