O Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de Mato Grosso do Sul (IFMS) é uma instituição que faz parte do programa de expansão da Rede Federal de Educação Profissional, Científica e Tecnológica, do Ministério da Educação (MEC). A rede integra 38 Institutos Federais, dois Centros Federais de Educação Tecnológica (Cefet), 24 Escolas Técnicas Vinculadas às Universidades Federais, a Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná e o Colégio Pedro II, do Rio de Janeiro. De acordo com a legislação, os institutos federais são instituições de educação superior, básica e profissional, pluricurriculares e multicampi, especializados na oferta de educação profissional e tecnológica nas diferentes modalidades de ensino,com forte inserção na área de pesquisa aplicada e na extensão. Possuem natureza jurídica de autarquia, detentoras de autonomia administrativa, patrimonial, financeira, didático-pedagógica e disciplinar, com estrutura de organização e funcionamento semelhantes.

The International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) was founded in 1951 as an organization of medical students, for medical students and by medical students. For more than 60 years, the Federation has not only been a dynamic platform of opportunities for the future physicians but has also served as their voice at the international level. IFMSA is the world’s oldest and largest independent organization representing associations of medical students internationally. It currently maintains 136 National Member Organizations from more than 127 countries with over one million students represented worldwide. IFMSA is recognized as a non-governmental organization within the United Nations system and the World Health Organization, and also works with the World Medical Association. IFMSA was created to impact the world and to empower its members in taking their vision and ideas, and making them a reality. IFMSA has inspired generations of medical students to develop the leadership abilities and skills to take on challenges and to improve the world around them in an early yet crucial period of their career. Engaging in IFMSA encourages both professional and personal collaborations irrespective of geographical, social, cultural, religious, racial, sexual and political differences. As a result, future doctors are becoming more culturally aware and sensitive physicians. In IFMSA, the emphasis is placed on students returning to their local environments with new ideas and the skills to implement them. As the doctors of tomorrow and future leaders of health, we feel confident that our students will carry this spirit with them throughout their professional lives so that they positively impact the communities they serve.

IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations) is een internationale medische studentenorganisatie die zich inzet voor de verbetering van Global Health en de ontwikkeling van toekomstige artsen en (para)medici. IFMSA, opgericht in 1951, is één van de oudste en grootste studentenorganisaties ter wereld. Wereldwijd vertegenwoordigt IFMSA 1,3 miljoen medisch studenten uit meer dan 125 landen. IFMSA wordt officieel erkend door de WHO en werkt samen met onder andere de Verenigde Naties, de Europese Unie en de World Medical Association. In Nederland wordt IFMSA vertegenwoordigd op alle acht medische faculteiten door ca. 900 actieve leden. IFMSA-Leiden is een lokaal onderdeel van IFMSA en bestaat uit ca. 100 enthousiaste leden die zich gezamenlijk inzetten voor het verbeteren van Global Health.
